The Canadian Government is supporting an initiative by the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada (SickKids) and the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) to train 1,500 paediatric nurses in Ghana.
The 22-million dollar-project is aimed at training about 1,500 paediatric nurses locally and to improve the health and survival of the about 6.7 million new-borns and children in Ghana.

Three nursing training institutions affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have held a joint graduation ceremony with a call to nurses to accept postings to deprived rural communities.

Dean of the University of Ghana Public Health School, Prof Richard Adanu said this in a key note address at this years nurses day celebration launch in Accra, held last Tuesday.It was under the theme “Nurses and Midwives: A force for change- Care Effective, Cost Effective”
Prof. Adanu, hinted on how every one was talking about getting the greatest benefit in the shortest time at the lowest cost. He however advocated that reducing wastage in the practice of nursing and midwifery was one very simple means nurses and midwives could apply to achieve that.
